Child safety seat inspections and installation available

Newport News police officers will hold a child safety seat inspection and installation event in December.

The officers will inspect the seats and ensure they are properly installed. Officers will also install any child safety seats brought to the event. By law, children under the age of 8 must be secured in a device that meets the standards set by the U.S. Department of Transportation when travelling in a motor vehicle.

The inspection, free and open to the public, will take place between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 21, at the Police Department's Community Outreach Center, 10188 Warwick Blvd., Hilton
