Musical film series scheduled at Main Street Library
A film series titled America’s Music: A Film History of Our Popular Music from Blues to Bluegrass to Broadway will take place at Main Street Library on Friday, Feb. 1.
According to event organizers, the film series will take place from February to April at the library with the intention of enlightening audiences about uniquely American musical genres including blues and gospel, Broadway, jazz, bluegrass and country, rock n’ roll, mambo and hip hop.
The program series will be free and open to the public. The series will be led by Kelly Rossum, assistant professor of trumpet and director of jazz studies at Christopher Newport University.
Main Street Library is at 110 Main St., Newport News.
The event is free. Registration is not required.
