Attempted robbery reported near the area of Winslow and Elsie drives
The Newport News Police Department is investigating a recent incident involving an attempted robbery that reportedly occurred in the Newport News area.
The incident was reported near the area of Winslow and Elsie drives at 6:40 a.m. Nov. 8.
According to a news release regarding the incident, an unknown male approached two Woodside High School students. The suspect approached each victim individually, about 15 minutes apart, produced a handgun and went through the their back packs.
Police described the suspect as a black male wearing dark clothing and a dark colored bandana covering his face. He is described as between 5-foot-4 to 5-foot-7 with a medium to thick build.
