Shooting and homicide reported near 19th Street and Buxton Avenue

The Newport News Police Department is investigating a recent incident involving a shooting and homicide.

The incident was reported near the area of 19th Street and Buxton Avenue at 2:45 p.m. Dec. 11.

According to a news release from the police, "Police communications received a call of shots fired. Responding officers located a man lying in front of White’s Grocery suffering from a gunshot wound."
